Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Riwancaka of Chabug District, 220 km north of Gerze County, Tibet. It was named by Fan Yingnian in 1988.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone and Sandstone. Lower part is composed of moderately thick-bedded compact limestone with calcite veins, 74 m thick. Upper part is of gray-green siltstone, fine- to coarse-grained quartz sandstone intercalated with thin-bedded clayey limestone, thickness >65.1 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformable over the Riwanchaka Fm

Upper contact

Unknown: The top boundary us unclear. But next younger unit in region is the glacial till of the Mushirabuka Gr.

Regional extent

Distributed at Riwancaka of the Gerze area, correlatable with the Aoqu Fm of the Jomda area in Qamdo.

Fossils

Lower part yields Coral Haplolasma verticullatum mistam. Upper part yields Brachiopod Phricodothyris ovata.
